Aviara AV32:

Luxury Day Boat w/54.9 mph WOT

Aviara AV32
Aviara AV32

The new Aviara 32 looks very European in style with the partial plumb bow, slab sides, open transom, and luxurious day boat interior. She is the first of a new line of boats built by MasterCraft in Vonore, Tennessee. Like MasterCraft boats, luxury and a quality build are part of her DNA. Powered with twin Ilmor 380-hp 6.0 MPI V8’s turning Yanmar sterndrives, she planed in 4.1 seconds and ran 54.9 mph at WOT — note that she is a 13,400-pound boat. She comes standard with lots of premium amenities, including two Bonglovi 1600-watt amplifiers and a Klipsch Audio system with eight speakers and two 11” woofers. The list of options is impressive: heated seats, refrigerated drink holders, cockpit heater and lots more.

Hatteras M75 Panacera:

1000 NM Range at Displacement Speeds

Hatteras M75 Panacera
Hatteras M75 Panacera

The Hatteras M75 Panacera has a convex modified-V hull with tunnels and a relatively shallow 5'3'' (1.60 m) draft for go-most-anywhere cruising. She can be powered by twin diesels ranging from 1600-hp to 1900-hp each to achieve speeds that the builder says can reach 30 knots when desired to cut down on passage times, or keep a cruising schedule independent of adverse conditions. The 2200-gallon fuel tankage gives her a range in excess of 1000 NM at displacement speeds.

Robalo R242 EX:

A Family-Friendly Fishboat

Robalo R242 EX
Robalo R242 EX

By this time, virtually all of the builders of center consoles have added “family-friendly” features to what previously was a hard-core fishing machine. And, the Robalo R242 EX is no exception. She offers amenities that should actually make the family want to spend a day on the water. Check out the wrap-around transom couch in three-tone, multi-density foam upholstery. She also offers removable backrests for the bow cushion area, a side-mounted table for picnics and a filler cushion to create a large sunpad. She has a large stern platform with ample space to walk from port to starboard in front of the outboard.

Riviera 39 Sports Motor Yacht:

Standard CZone Control for All Systems

Riviera 39 Sports Motor Yacht
Riviera 39 Sports Motor Yacht

The standard CZone system makes management and monitoring the Riviera 39 Sports Motor Yacht’s electrical operation simple. Few builders in class make the CZone system standard, but Riviera does, making operation from anywhere on the boat via tablet easier for both new and veteran boaters alike. The system controls all lights, tank levels, air conditioning, generator, engine diagnostics, battery charge, electronics, refrigerator temperatures, underwater lights, watermaker, stereo, TV, and much more – and turns it all off with one touch. A CZone key fob allows an owner to light up the boat even before getting aboard.

Sun Tracker Party Barge 22 XP3:

Clever Storage Plus Seating for 11 Guests

Sun Tracker Party Barge 22 XP3
Sun Tracker Party Barge 22 XP3

There’s never enough storage on a boat – but the Sun Tracker Party Barge 22 XP3 is trying to put that old adage to shame. She not only has all the usual storage under the seating for up to 11 guests but she also has lots more in the “Store-More” lounge seat backs, which flip up to provide access to the space within. The hinges keep the back in place for easy access. The lips around the lower storage compartment of the seat are designed to keep out rain and spray. Note that all the furniture has roto-molded bases, impervious to rot.

Boat Construction Videos

Custom Layouts/Personalized Features

uscg report

Monte Carlo Yachts Factory Video

Monte Carlo Yachts are constructed slightly differently from most large motoryachts. Their graceful monocoque hulls are designed like the fuselage of a commercial airliner. In case you haven’t noticed, in most of the cabin of these planes there are no structural bulkheads. This allows MCY to offer a higher degree of customization and personalization than many other builders. The MCY design team works with the famed Nuvolari Lenard studio to create one-of-a-kind interior spaces, finished in a near limitless palate of fabrics, floor coverings and cabinetry materials. This build process is also one of the reasons that MCY can build a large motoryacht in record time.

How to Anchor the Right Way

uscg report

There’s a right way to do everything, and anchoring is no different.

Yamaha Watercraft has made a fine video primer on how to anchor a small boat, so we are passing it along for our readers to learn from and enjoy. Part of the fun of being on a boat is being able to explore a bit, stop, anchor and enjoy the scenery. Believe it or not, many boats just go from dock to dock and rarely anchor. Here’s a brief video explaining basic procedures of setting the hook.
